The scoring guidelines that we provide in the www.HSAitems.org website were not used to score questions administered in past years, when Hawai'i Content and Performance Standards (HCPS) II standards were used. Because the Hawai'i State Assessment now uses Hawai'i Content and Performance Standards (HCPS) III standards and benchmarks, the Deparment of Education has created new rubrics so that old questions are calibrated and matched to the new standards. The new scoring rubrics will increase accuracy, because they are written specifically for each question, unlike the generic rubric previously used for all questions.
